Our adventure June 24 began with a tour through the National Weather Service facility. Many of the staff were in a meeting to discuss the tornadoes that had swept through Norton & Graham counties. I'm sure there is not really ever a time in the summer that the weather service in Kansas is not busy. We got to learn how they use their different computer systems to monitor the weather both in the short and long term. We found out that the forecast is sent to a computer system that then sends it to the local weather radios in our homes. It was fun to see how the weather gets to our weather radio in our house to keep us safe.
2011 was KS' 150th birthday. We traveled to various places in the state/experiencing 150+ things (Castle Rock, Salt Museum, Cosmosphere, Scenic Byways, Ms. Wheelchair KS Pageant, etc.). {COPYRIGHTS/INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES CONTAINED HEREIN ARE OWNED BY THEIR RESPECTIVE ENTITIES, our personal thoughts on these activities are not necessarily shared by everyone, please judge for yourselves.} CLICK PICTURES FOR LARGER VIEW, THEN BROWSER BACK TO RETURN!
