87. Campmeeting of the Northwest District of the Church of God

The weekend of June 8-12 was Northwest District Church of God Campmeeting in Hill City.  This is an annual event that bring the 6 churches of the District ( Hill City, WaKeeney, Norton, Redline, Phillipsburg, and Lenora) together, as well as anyone else who wants to attend.  Every evening, there is a supper provided by the churches followed by a worship service for adults and youth and a children's church.  Following the evening service, there are youth activities and Angel's favorite, FREE POPCORN and the chance to talk to people you don't usually get to talk to the rest of the year.  There are also Saturday youth activities and this year, there was a mini-camp for the youth before campmeeting began.  There are extra activities on Sunday as well, including morning worship and an afternoon business meeting and singspiration.
Every year, the district brings in a speaker and worship leader for the week, as well as someone for the youth and children.  This year, the speaker was Marvin Middlebrooks from Oklahoma City and the worship leader was Justin Brown from Ft. Collins, Colorado.  It was fun for Angel and Eric because we have history with both of these men.  It was great to see Marvin again and let him meet our son 7 years after the accident.  He happened to be the interim pastor at the church we were at when the car accident occurred.  It felt a little like coming full circle.  What a miracle and blessing to be able to show how far we had come in 7 years.
The District made the dining hall quite wheelchair accessible in the past few years.  There is an awesome accessible bathroom and the door of the dining hall has been widened.  There is also a sidewalk from the entrance of the dining hall to the curb cut beside the handicap parking space.  There are handicap spaces in front of the church.  However, there is no curb cut and no possible way to get up on the sidewalk alone in front of the church and it is even difficult with help.
