Make sure you pay attention as you drive along the Western Vistas Scenic Byways. You are likely to find a herd of buffalo (or more than one herd). We were excited to see the buffalo along the way because we had tried to visit the Sandsage Bison Range and Wildlife Area in Garden City, but found it closed. Buffalo are such an important part of Kansas history it was important to see them on our adventures this year. It was even better to see a herd as we were driving down the road.
